Board Meeting: 6:00 pm

There was discussion as to where the club has been and where it is we would like it headed. Also part of the discussion was how to get the club members more involved and into coming to the meetings. We discussed again that this club was voluntary and not mandatory so hopefully they will start attending on their own willingness. If they don’t attend it was mentioned that it is really hard for them to have a voice on the future of the club and the way it is going.

Discussion on where to hold the meetings. The result is to stay at the Red White and Brew. Everyone voted to stay that was in attendance.

Membership fees are due in August and we had a discussion on whether to prorate the dues for new members signing up throughout the year. It was voted that it is too hard to keep track of memberships being due at different times through out the year so they will remain due in August and no prorate will be assessed. So please, if you are signing members up, make sure they know this in advance.

General Meeting: 6:30 p.m.

The check book was handed over to Mitzi Peterson with a balance of $9749.31.
Need to get Sue Haun paid for the flyers from the Poker Run, the bill got lost. Deb will get it paid. Other than that, all is caught up. Good job Debbie!

Old Business

Named new Officers:

Tyler Peterson-President
Cory Lees- Vice President
Mitzi Peterson- Treasurer
Stephanie Barrus- Secretary
Bob Penny off of the Board.

Past officers are now the new board Members which consistes of Bob Strobel, Clint Guthrie, Debbie Guthrie and Karil Brocha.
Digs & RaNell are off the board but still serve as alternates. Bert McNeel was put in as a sand in tie breaker.

Poker run was a real success! Not much negative feed back from members and or public. Talked about next year advertising it in the Wrangler. We had a group from the Rock Springs club come and participate and they were awesome and had a great time!

Snow Rodeo:
Went very well. Had great feed back on the “Kiddie Cross”! Again a special thanks went out to Corry Lees for designing and building, pretty much by hand, the course. We had a few show up with 440’s and needs to be a point of discussion for next year to make a special class for them. Some people complained about how long it took on the kids events so it was mentioned that possibly run adults and kids at same time but on different courses. Six kids shared (1) 120. So hopefully will have more next year! They had a ball and we truly focused on this being more for the kids. I think it worked!

Talked about trying to have a snow cross for the adults. Tyler and Clint are going to try and investigate this and see what we need to do to host something like this.

We had a club ride up to McCain Meadows on March 15. We had a nice turn out with about 14 members participating! Way to go members! Bert was talk of the ride and we have several photos that will be posted on the website as to why! A lot of the members did not know about the ride, so we need to mail and e-mail. We will send out new forms to see how the members would like us to get in touch with them and to update our current members list. Mitzi will take care of this in the next couple of weeks.

Avalanche Training:
Bob Strobel had a hard time getting in touch with the SVSR to schedule a training session. Need to try and book it with them earlier. Tyler and Mitzi also know some one who could help with the training that is Certified and help the JH Snow Devil’s in their classes if we can’t get it organized with SVSR.

Still looking at the club purchasing a tent for use at our events. Debbie Guthrie is going to talk to the lady that donated the tent to us to use for the Snow Rodeo and see if she can get us some prices.

New Business:

Easter Egg Hunt:
The club purchased and donated 2 bikes, a helmet, and knee and elbow pads. Spent $104.00.
Thanks Debbie and Clint for going and getting these items for us!

Car Show:
Talk of the 2008 Car Show was brought up and Tiphany said that she thought the property that it was held on last year was on the market so she would check into this for us. (Tiphany here is your reminder!) We may have to have the car show at a different location than the air show. Tiphany will check into all this and it will be discussed further at May’s meeting. Had some feed back from a pilot in last years show that they couldn’t land so they had to return to Driggs to land. By the time they were able to attend the car show to see the car’s it was over. Need to discuss different options on this. We need to have better coordination from the Fire Dept as well. Talked about having the Poker Run on Saturday and then do the judging on Sunday. Also talked about having admission to get into the car show. We need more members to help out with the car show this year. We will talk more about all of this at May's meeting.

2008 Calendar:
July 4th Tavern Party might be moved to the end of July. Maybe do a 4-wheeler Poker Run up the Greys River. Or just make it a fun run. Discuss a Chairman for this in the April meeting.

Last club ride for the year:
March 29th won’t work because of the Jackson Hole Hill Climb.
We will try and have the ride up Diamond Creek on April 5th. Meet at 10:30. But due to the limited amount of parking area up there, Ernie Potter has volunteered to take a drive up there and see what the snow conditions are like and also parking situation. We will send out confirmation after we assess the situation. If Diamond Creek is out we discussed possibly heading up McCoy Creek. If you have any questions on this call Cory Lees at 307-880-0450.
Bob Strobel brought up maybe a club ride to Island Park. There was no interest in that throughout the present members.

Club Logo:
It was also mentioned that we would like to see about a new club logo. Mitzi mentioned that her nephew Chantry was a great artist and would see if he could come up with something that we all liked. Any thoughts or ideas are truly welcome!
The need to renew our insurance was brought up by Bob Strobel and Debbie had already done so. We are renewed until 3-09.

In conclusion:
Tyler and Mitzi were contacted by Porsche to see about holding a Winter Driving Event in Alpine. Apparently the Chamber of Commerce in Jackson somehow had us as a contact for Alpine area. Tyler contacted them back and basically they are looking for an area that they can hold this event and was wondering if we could help them out. She said that Jackson would not help them. Basically it is a driving skills event for Porsche and they need an un-groomed or unplowed area. Tyler told them that he would look into this further and we would contact them back.

Meeting adjourned 7:42 pm

Again, I would like to encourage all members to participate in club meetings (April 17) and or events. Let’s get a positive future for our club!

Thanks,

Tyler Peterson – President

TOR Christmas Party / Local Family Benefit – Subs for Santa
In order to find families who needed help this past Christmas, KaRil worked with two agencies referred to us by the Sheriff’s Department.  Two families were selected and they each gave us their wish lists.   At the December 6th meeting, club members volunteered to provide presents for everyone in each family.  Each family also received a complete Christmas dinner and decorations.  Both of the families are eternally grateful for the club’s generosity and would like to thank everyone that provided gifts in need. Thanks to KaRil and Brian for delivering the gifts to the families.

The Christmas Party was a complete success!  Thanks to the Bull Moose Saloon for letting us use their kitchen to cook the turkeys. Thanks to all members who showed up and brought side dishes!  The dinner was delicious! Special thanks to KaRil and her sons for putting this whole event together; it was worthwhile and very rewarding for all of us! Thanks to Tiphany and RaNell for helping out with the tree and decorations!

Campfire and Cookout
We had a nice turn out at the Campfire and Cookout at Grant and Lara Gertsch’s house this year!  As always, Grant did a great job at the grilling station and preparing the fire pit so we could all stay warm. Thanks to whoever brought that macaroni salad, which was amazing! We decided not to ride the chute do to unstable snow conditions.  We just focused on the food, fire pit for staying warm and the nice conversations. Better to be safe than sorry!  Special thanks to Grant, Lara, John Gailey and Bruce Plott for all their help with the setup!

Happy Holidays Everyone!

TOR Christmas Party / Family Benefit Dec 20th 2007, 6:30pm - 11pm Bull Moose

Thanks to everyone that showed up to the rescheduled "Local Family Christmas Benefit" meeting. KaRil got sign-ups for most items on the family’s list of needs. We accomplished a lot and it looks like we will have a large crowd attending this year! For everyone that didn’t make the meeting but plans to make it to the party, it’s not too late to put your Santa Hat on and help our TOR sponsored families! Non-perishable groceries and grocery cards for stocking stuffers are great gifts since every little bit helps. This is the time of year where we need think a little less about ourselves and think more of others less fortunate. For everyone coming to the party, please bring a holiday side dish and plan on dinner being served around 7:00pm - 9:00pm. Dinner Includes roasted turkey, gravy, rolls, mashed potatoes, homemade cranberry sauce and all of the other delicious holiday dishes members bring.

Island Park, Idaho Traveling Club Ride - February 8,9,10 - 2008
So far 10 people have RSVP’d for this trip, and we have room for 10 more. We have rooms blocked out at Hyde’s Last Chance Lodge. Rooms are $45.00 per night based on double occupancy. This is a screaming deal! On Friday Feb 8th at 7:30am we leave Alpine with our sleds loaded from the Bull Moose parking lot heading to Island Park. It is approximately a 2.5 hour drive, which puts us there around 10:00am. We will need to be on our game that day if we plan to get on the trail by 11am. This is the day we work out all the kinks and decide a game plan for Saturday’s ride. That evening we all convene back at the lodge and have dinner and cocktails at the A-Bar. Anybody that wants a high-end dinner can go to Trout Hunter nearby. Saturday morning we must be ready to head out by 10am. We will ride for the day and plan to be back at the lodge by dinner time. I’m going to book reservations at the Anglers Lodge for Dinner. Plan to put your party hat on that evening! Sunday we are on our own. After breakfast we can head home or go for a half-day ride. We will have some time to figure this out and I plan to do some homework by then. I’m taking suggestions on the itinerary as well. If you would like to go on this fun filled weekend or have any questions please call 307-690-5681.

Club Meetings and New Meeting Home - Feedback update
The Goal here was to satisfy the need to have a club home base, a neutral and consistent meeting place (Yankee Doodle’s) for members of all ages. We have been hearing mixed feelings about this new location. Overall I am mostly hearing positive comments. Members like not having to worry about where and when our meetings are, and the fact the whole family is welcome. I must say it has turned into complicated issue with some members. I am still trying to get a feel for what is best for the majority of members and the club. We have a few options moving forward, but we will work this out in meetings if it continues to be an issue. I say let’s be respectful, be positive, work through the issues, and do what is best for the club, the members, and the community.
